A Good Excuse

After squeezing every last ounce out of last Sunday’s brunch menu, recipes and photos all week, The Kitchen Sink is definitely due for a change of scenery. And I’d love to share a new, knock-your-socks-off recipe—a decidedly non-brunch-y recipe—with you today. But, for a couple reasons, that’s just not happening.

First, Kevin’s been out of town all week for work. That means that the main audience for this blog’s fare has been in absentia. Which leaves only me, and I’m my least favorite person to cook for. And, when Kevin’s away, I tend to make things for dinner that he would surely scorn: bowls of roasted Brussels sprouts, plates heaped with steamed cauliflower, mushrooms any which way. (Side note: It’s a cruel reality that when I’m out of town, Kevin dines on baked mac-n-cheese and pizza and I “indulge” in vegetables. Culinary sexism, I tell you.)

And while I’ve found myself a few other people to cook for this week, those photos are living on my camera and (due to a whole host of problems with my own computer) awaiting the return of Kevin’s computer, so that they can become blog-postable. The computer—and the husband—were due in yesterday, but the snow storm has waylaid them. While the new-recipe-starved-blog might be most excited for the computer’s return, I can’t wait to have my husband—and my most favorite dinner partner—back home today.

In the meantime, here are a couple stored up photos (with recipe links when possible) of things we’ve eaten but haven’t blogged about over the past couple months:

So, cross your fingers that Kevin’s flight gets in! And come back soon for some all new recipes and photos!

I love that you say you are your least favorite person to cook for. I totally agree with you! The best part of cooking a new recipe is seeing what everyone else thinks about it!

Clumsy: I couldn’t agree more. Thanks for the comment!
