meet her
Three weeks ago, we finally got to meet her—our baby girl. She was born on August 2, in the wee hours of the morning. She weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces, and she was 20.5 inches long. Her name is Avery Raleigh, and we are completely in love.
I’m slowly making my way back into the kitchen, but the majority of the food we’ve eaten during the past few weeks has been prepared by others. There was a lovely dinner in the hospital—takeout from one of our favorite Italian spots in Chicago, eaten on a wheeled dining tray while Avery slept nearby. There were several meals a day for days upon days made by my mom, who was a hero in those early days. There have been weekly dinners delivered by mother-in-law, who has been keeping Avery and me in very good company. And there have been bagels, lunches and dinners delivered by friends. We are a lucky little family, I tell you.
Avery has also been to the grocery store several times and, I’m proud to say, she seems to love it as much as her mama.
She’s also been to the park for a picnic to celebrate her parents’ five year (!!) wedding anniversary.
And she’s dined al fresco a few times.
She’s so much fun, and I’m thrilled to finally introduce her to all of you.
